BIOGRAPHY

Tanya Van Horen is an emerging artist based in Umoona community in Coober Pedy. Tanya was born in Port Augusta in 1975 and is a Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara women. Her home is Coober Pedy and she traces her family connection to the town back past eight generations.

Tanya is an advocate for the Coober Pedy community and alongside her painting practice works at the Umoona Opal Mine as a guide, hosting tour groups through the impressive museum. In her paintings, Tanya depicts the colours of the Coober Pedy landscape and its surrounding desert as well as the rock formations and imagery of her country.
