Authentic Aboriginal Art. Indigenous and Artist Owned.
Welcome to the APY Gallery, Australia's home of contemporary Aboriginal art. We are a collective of Indigenous-owned art centres who exhibit and celebrate the work of early-career artists from the APY Lands, regional South Australia and Adelaide.
About the APY Gallery
Thank you for visiting the APY Gallery online store. The APY art movement began over 70 years ago in Pukatja (Ernabella) Community, before spreading to each community across the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in far northwest South Australia.
We are a collective of Indigenous-owned art centres and social enterprises working on the APY Lands, remote South Australia, and Adelaide.
We exhibit artwork from our South Australian art centres at the APY Gallery in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and online.
We celebrate the work of some of Australia's most renowned Aboriginal artists and are an important platform for early-career artists to showcase their artwork to the world.
Categories of our Aboriginal art available for sale includes:
- Modern Aboriginal paintings
- Aboriginal ceramic art
- Aboriginal works on paper and prints
- Aboriginal gifts and products
We work with an 80/20 commission split, which sees 80% of the sale price returned to artists and their art centres from each and every sale.
More information can be found on our About page.
Ethics and Authenticity
The APY Art Centre Collective and APY Gallery are 100% owned and governed by Indigenous people.
Unlike the ‘private painting shed’ model where the goal is to maximise profits for private dealers, the APY 'art centre' model has one goal - to maximise the return of income to artists and their communities.
Artwork showcased at the APY Gallery comes direct from art centres on the APY Lands, regional South Australia and Adelaide, so we can guarantee all artwork sold is original, authentic and ethically sourced. For more information, please see our ethics page.
