BIOGRAPHY

Lorraine Ferguson is an emerging artist based in Davenport, Port Augusta, and a member of the Port Augusta Aboriginal Arts Mob (PAAAM). She began her painting journey with PAAAM in 2024, bringing to life the native flowers and plants of Finke—her childhood home. Lorraine’s work is inspired by the rich ecology of the Simpson Desert. “I paint the flowers around Finke in the Simpson Desert that come up after the rain,” she says. Her paintings evoke the beauty and renewal of Country through vibrant colour and memory.

Lorraine paints alongside her cousin, fellow artist Kaylene James. She lives in Davenport with Kaylene, her four children, and seven grandchildren.
