BIOGRAPHY
Jeannie Minunga is a senior Yankunytjatjara woman and Kay Finn is a senior Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara woman and they both live between Umoona, Coober Pedy and Oodnadatta. They are sisters in law, and while also creating individual works, they make large-scale collaborative paintings together.
Jeannie and Kay began painting at Umoona Art Centre in October 2021, and they paint alongside Jeannie’s husband and Kay’s brother Keith Minunga, and Jeannie’s daughter Myra Kumantjara. Jeannie paints her Country, Paradise, and Wanampi Tjukurpa, the water snake dreaming while Kay paints her Country around Indulkana and its important sites and cultural stories. Jeannie and Kay have been included in sell-out Umoona Arts exhibitions and alongside Myra they were nominated as finalist in the 2022 Wynne Prize for their collaborative painting ‘Nganampa Ngura.’
