BIOGRAPHY

"My Pitjantjatjara name is Tjanuwa, but they call me Mrs Riley".

Mrs Riley's mother, Betty Munti, was one of the founding members of Tjala Arts and a highly regarded artist.

As a child, Mrs Riley went to school and lived in Pukatja with her family before they all moved to Amata, around 1990.

Mrs Riley learnt to paint and batik while at school and then at Ernabellla Arts before coming to work at Tjala Arts in late 2006.

She has two sons and two daughters, and says "I do painting to make me happy and to show my kids my grandfather's and my grandmother's country.

I show them our stories so they can learn them". As well as working at Tjala Arts, Mrs Riley also paints at Ernabella Arts and Tangentyere Artists in Alice Springs.
